This is the short version of a long journey of coming back into alignment, over and over again.
hi, I’m Emmalee
At 19 years old, I was diagnosed with multiple autoimmune conditions.
What followed felt like the beginning of a lifelong sentence… medications, side effects, and the understanding that this was something I would simply have to “manage.”
But something in me resisted that.
When I asked my rheumatologist about diet, lifestyle, or anything beyond medication, I was dismissed. Laughed at, even. I was told it wouldn’t make a difference.
That moment changed everything.
Because deep down, I knew my body wasn’t broken. I knew there had to be another way.
So I went looking for it.
I made the decision (abruptly and chaotically) to step away from the conventional path I had been handed. I stopped medications cold turkey (10/10 don’t recommend), and I took full responsibility for my health.
That season was messy. Uncertain. But it was also the beginning of something much bigger.
It was the moment I stopped outsourcing my health and started learning how to understand it.
I was able to fully reverse my autoimmune conditions, but more importantly, that decision to question what I’d been told reshaped my entire path.
Fast forward a few years and I was a nurse working in the hospital during the chaos of 2020. Already, due to my own experience, I questioned everything within the mainstream medical system, but the deeper I went into holistic health, the harder it became to ignore what I was seeing.
Modern medicine is incredible in acute, life-saving situations.
But it was never designed to resolve chronic illness.
Management was the standard, but I couldn’t accept that as the only option.
Especially when I had experienced firsthand what the body is capable of when it’s supported properly.
I knew I couldn’t stay in a system I no longer believed in.So in 2020, I began pursuing holistic wellness professionally. And in 2021, I left nursing for good.
I started my own remote holistic practice.
What I didn’t expect was how quickly it would grow.
Within a short period of time, I had replaced my full-time nursing income, and more importantly, I was helping women do what I had once been told was impossible:
Regulate their bodies. Restore their cycles. Support fertility. Actually heal.
For a few years, this was my full focus. During this time, my husband also left his nursing career to support me at home as my practice continued to grow.
But eventually, something else began to happen….
Nurses and other healthcare professionals started reaching out to me.
They weren’t just asking about health. They were asking how to leave.
How to step away from burnout.
How to build something different.
How to do the work in a way that actually aligned with their values.
That’s what led to the creation of Integrative Metabolic Wellness®, which launched in 2024.
A certification program designed to bridge the gap between conventional training and true holistic practice, combining foundational physiology, functional lab interpretation, and the business skills required to actually build a sustainable career.
Since its launch, dozens of practitioners have completed the program and gone on to build practices of their own.
And in the process of building it… my role shifted again.
I stepped away from 1:1 client work almost entirely.
In 2025, I felt the pull to return to client work, but not in the same way.
I didn’t want to rebuild a model that depended on constant output and limited capacity.
And I felt drawn toward a different kind of work… something more nuanced, and often misunderstood: Fat loss and body recomposition.
But not through restriction, control, or forcing the body into submission.
Through support. Through alignment. Through actually understanding what the body needs in order to function well.
That’s where The Aligned Metabolism (originally Prometabolic Weightloss) was born.
A program built on the belief and philosophy that: You don’t have a metabolism problem, you have a misalignment problem.
And that: A well-fed, well-supported body is the body that becomes lean, strong, and regulated.
Hundreds of women have gone through this work to find a way of eating, training, and living that doesn’t require choosing between nourishment and a body they feel confident in.
The past few years haven’t just been about business…
They’ve been an unraveling.
Working through my own version of The Aligned Metabolism didn’t just change my body. It brought me back into it.
And from that place, everything became clearer. I began looking far beyond food and protocols, and into the deeper factors that shape our health:
The nervous system. Lifestyle patterns. Relationships. Stress. Belief systems. The environments we exist in every day.
Some of those realizations were subtle. Others required major shifts. But all of them were necessary.
That ongoing exploration is what led me to create The Aligned Path, where I write about the deeper, often unspoken layers of healing and personal growth.
Because health is never just physical. And the path back to yourself is rarely linear.
Looking back, it might seem like my path has been all over the place.
Autoimmune diagnosis. Nursing. Holistic practice. Metabolism. Education. Business. Personal work.
But none of it was random.
Every step led to the next. Every pivot built on the one before it.
And every experience shaped the way I see the body, health, and healing today.
I believe the body is not fragile. It’s adaptive, intelligent, and always working in your favor.
I believe symptoms are not problems to suppress, but signals to understand.
I believe you don’t have to choose between being nourished and looking the way you want to look.
And I believe that true health requires more than protocols. It requires alignment.
